COMEDY ON PRESCRIPTION

COMEDY ON
PRESCRIPTION

PAST PROJECT

Comedy on Prescription was a new scheme The Comedy Trust established alongside Wellbeing Enterprises.

We worked alongside local GP's as a referral service offering an alternative form of therapy to combat mental health issues that men and women face.

The course was conducted by professional stand-up comedian, Sam Avery. Over six weeks he taught participants how to write and perform their own comedy routines culminating in a live performance that took place on the 27th of May 2015.

This type of course gave participants the opportunity to use comedy as a platform to tackle the stigma attached to mental health whilst improving their own mental health and well-being.

TESTIMONIALS

"The Comedy Trust (and Sam Avery in particular) have given me a little map, compass and instruction to “go forth and discover for myself”. So thanks for that Sam."
